The Power of the Pause
For most of us, our everyday lives are filled with hundreds of things to do. Some days, so many things are coming at us, we find ourselves going into auto-pilot; rarely taking a step back to assess whether or not we are making decisions that support who we want to be and the life we want to live.
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel like we're constantly in motion, always busy with something, making excuses about why we never have time for ourselves. However busy we are though, we always have a choice. We can choose to stay on auto-pilot or we can choose to embrace the powerful creator inside of us.
One of the most powerful ways to embrace our inner creator is The Pause. Pausing can take on many forms - it could look like taking a break from the computer, going for a walk in nature, meditating, or simply taking a few deep breaths. Regardless of the form it takes, the act of pausing is an incredibly powerful way to refocus, recharge, and gain a fresh, more accurate perspective of the world around us.
Pausing allows us to clear our minds and let go of the constant chatter and false stories that so easily consume us. When we pause, we give ourselves the space and time to step back and observe our thoughts and emotions from a more objective perspective. This helps us gain clarity, identify any negative thought patterns or habits, and work towards resolving them.
When we stop and pause, we boost our creativity. As we rush around and work non-stop, our mind becomes cluttered and overwhelmed, making it difficult to come up with new ideas. Pausing gives our mind the space it needs to look at what is actually happening and come up with fresh perspectives and insights.
Additionally, the pause is a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety. When we're feeling stressed, our natural instinct is to keep pushing ourselves harder, trying to get everything done as quickly as possible. However, this approach often leads to more stress and burnout. When we take a pause and give ourselves the time and space to breathe, we calm our minds, and approach our challenges with greater clarity and focus.
Pausing also supports healthier eating habits and digestion. When we eat in a stressed state, our sympathetic system, or fight or flight response, is triggered, and our bodies are unable to process our food, leaving us feeling unsatisfied and tired. When we slow down and savor our food, it allows our parasympathetic system, or rest and digest response, to activate, helping us feel relaxed, more satisfied and more energetic.
The power of the pause is undeniable. It helps us gain clarity, boost creativity, manage stress, and improve our overall well-being. We have the power to choose whether or not we want to stay on auto-pilot or make the time to connect to our higher self. I encourage you to create time in your day to take a break, step back, reflect, and recharge. Just a few minutes a day can make a significant difference in your life.
So why not start right now? Take a moment, pause, close your eyes, and breathe in all of your possibilities.
